Veterinarian & Practice Owner
From a very young age, it was clear to Dr. Tracey Bourdeau and her family that she would become a veterinarian. Growing up, she was always finding ways to bring home sick and injured animals in need of care, determined to return them to their rightful place in good health. This brought her great joy and satisfaction and pursuing a career in veterinary medicine was her ultimate goal. In early high school, she began working as a kennel assistant at a local veterinary hospital in Mississauga and held that position throughout high school until completing university. It was during this time that she established her connection to Burnhamthorpe Animal Hospital through Dr. Fiona Cameron, the founder of Burnhamthorpe Animal Hospital. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Guelph, followed by her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1994 from the Ontario Veterinary College. Dr. Bourdeau joined the Burnhamthorpe Animal Hospital team upon graduation in 1994, knowing this was the ideal place for her to practice veterinary medicine. She entered into partnership with her friend and colleague Dr. Fiona Cameron in 2002 and became the sole practice owner in 2013.
Dr. Bourdeau enjoys all aspects of the veterinary profession and has special interest in medicine, dentistry, endoscopy and orthopedics. She remains actively involved in the local veterinary community and values her team of outstanding veterinarians and support staff at Burnhamthorpe Animal Hospital. She also takes pride in their long standing accreditation with the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and their pursuit of excellence in the veterinary profession.
Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Bourdeau enjoys spending time with her family as well as many athletic pursuits. Ladies fastball has been a lifelong sport and continues to be a source of great enjoyment and friendship. She also enjoys staying active with her husband and 2 children playing volleyball, basketball, soccer, hockey, cycling, and exploring the outdoors. They are also proud Toronto Maple Leafs fans.
Dr. Bourdeau remains fascinated with the people and pets she meets in practice and continues to put forth every effort to promote animal health and welfare, advance her medical knowledge and strengthen the human-animal bond.
